Talents, the Scar system, and hybrid combat
Scars of Honor's progression systems in this recap center on talent customization, the Scar system, and a hybrid combat model. These features are presented as core parts of how characters develop and how moment-to-moment gameplay functions.
Talent system
The talent system allows players to specialize abilities by allocating points in different directions. Talents can increase stats, unlock spells, or augment existing abilities. The system is described as flexible, with players able to tailor builds to their preferences and respec nodes later if they want to change their setup.
Scar system
Scars are described as a built-in part of natural character progression rather than an optional side system. Players obtain them while leveling and by defeating elites or bosses.
When a scar group is unlocked, the player is presented with a random selection from that group and chooses one that fits the current build. That selection can later be rerolled. Scars are said to grow with the character and to affect gameplay directly through bonuses and spell modifications, rather than functioning only as flat statistical increases.
Combat model
Combat is described as primarily tab-target focused, but with action-based elements depending on the ability used. Some spells require a target and lock on automatically, while others use aimed skill shots or ground decals.
This hybrid approach is presented as intentional. At the same time, animations, transitions, and overall combat feel are said to still be under refinement in the in-progress build shown at the time.
Gathering and crafting
The recap also mentions life skills as part of everyday progression. Materials can be gathered through activities such as mining, woodcutting, and fishing, then used to craft gear or useful items for later activities such as dungeon runs. These gathering activities are said to involve minigames.
