Faction capitals and race lore direction

The discussion provides several lore and worldbuilding details about faction hubs, race themes, and narrative priorities. Particular attention is given to the Sacred Order and Domination capitals, the role of the undead in the Domination storyline, and the thematic differentiation of races such as the Sun Elves, Gronthar, dwarves, and Baron.

Faction capitals

For the Sacred Order, Whitesong is described as the likely main city at this stage. For the Domination, the final choice is less settled. Velaris is said to be the current leading candidate, though the decision is not treated as final.

The uncertainty around the Domination capital is tied to a design requirement: the city must plausibly host multiple very different races and still feel like home to all of them. That makes the architectural and cultural framing of the hub especially important.

Domination story and the undead

The Domination opening scenario is said to revolve around the problems of the undead and how they are incorporated into the faction. A future patch is expected to reveal more of the Domination story, including a major historical war event that is intentionally left unspoiled.

The undead are also described as distinct from the more common "mindless zombie" portrayal seen in other fantasy games. Their aesthetic and narrative tone are intended to differ from that stereotype while still remaining recognizably undead.

Faction balance in storytelling

A concern is raised about faction imbalance in MMORPG storytelling, and the response indicates that Scars of Honor aims to avoid focusing only on one side. If one faction receives attention through a race or storyline, the other faction is expected to receive comparable narrative emphasis through its own peoples and conflicts.

Sun Elves

The transformation from a more conventional high-elf concept into Sun Elves is explained as a deliberate attempt to avoid overused moon-elf or night-elf conventions. The sun is chosen as the thematic opposite of the moon, and the race is intended to feel like a fresh interpretation rather than a repetition of familiar fantasy templates.

Gronthar

The Gronthar are described as one of the later races to appear in the world and as a people with little attachment to civilization, refinement, or orderly culture. They are noisy, ferocious, and chaotic, which aligns them naturally with the Domination.

Their homeland and architecture draw from harsh, desert-like environments with little surviving nature. This environmental framing reinforces their destructive and untamed identity.

Dwarves and Baron

Dwarves are treated as a classic fantasy race whose core associations should remain intact: underground cities, mining, jewelry, and precious metals. The design philosophy is to preserve those recognizable roots rather than overturn them.

By contrast, the Baron are identified as a more unique race and a place where the setting can take bolder creative risks. They are also singled out as a personal favorite among the races discussed.

Story depth

The world is said to have a substantial underlying story written specifically for Scars of Honor. The narrative is presented as a deep setting foundation rather than a minimal excuse for gameplay, though many specifics remain unrevealed at this stage.
