Morning Pass lore and battleground context

Morning Pass is presented as more than a neutral PvP map. It is described as a long-contested fortress region with a history of warfare that predates the current undead conflict, and its battleground mechanics are tied to that setting.

History of Morning Pass

The area is said to have been a fortress for centuries and a focal point of strife for nearly two hundred years. Its significance goes back to an earlier period when it served as an Order fortress after the elves first landed on Iron Garf.

Because of this long history of conflict, the ground is described as saturated with the blood and souls of fallen warriors.

Soul chests and fallen warriors

The battleground's collectible soul objects are explained as the souls of dead warriors rather than abstract resource nodes. Visually, they are described as old coffins or caskets inhabited by those remnants.

The collection of these souls is said to serve a purpose, but that purpose is intentionally not revealed yet because it connects to future quest and story content.

Battlegrounds as part of the world

A key narrative point is that battlegrounds are intended to have story relevance. The developers state that these modes are not meant to exist only as isolated competitive activities with no connection to the setting.

Instead, battleground participation is planned to tie into quest lines and world context, so that players are taking part in conflicts that have meaning within the broader setting rather than simply capturing objectives for mechanical reward.

Future narrative integration

The fuller explanation for Morning Pass and its soul-related mechanics is said to be coming later as part of the game's PvE expansion. This suggests that the battleground's current mechanics are an early gameplay layer for story material that has not yet been fully implemented.
