Mage combat notes and battle mage plans

The recording includes several class-related notes centered on the mage and on future class availability. The most detailed reveal concerns the battle mage, which is described as a tank-oriented mage variant.

Mage combat state

The mage is used extensively during the gameplay demonstration. Several abilities are shown in an in-development state, including crowd control, immunity, explosive effects, and projectile attacks. Some visual and timing issues are acknowledged, especially animation and VFX synchronization on certain attacks.

Damage numbers and combat presentation are also described as still needing tuning.

Battle mage as a tank

The battle mage is described as a tank. Its defining mechanic is an additional resource called barrier, displayed separately from the standard resource bar.

Barrier is generated through combat actions and functions as a protective layer that absorbs incoming damage. Once barrier is depleted, damage begins affecting the character's health directly. The battle mage is also described as using different weapon types, including swords, distinguishing it from a more traditional ranged caster presentation.

Healing and targeting notes

A question about healer targeting is answered by saying the game will use a mix of approaches rather than a single model. Some classes are expected to lean more toward direct ally targeting, while others may use more positional or area-based healing methods.

The mage itself is not described as a healer. A possible healing-oriented blood mage concept is mentioned in connection with the necromancer rather than the mage.

Ranger pet uncertainty

The ranger is mentioned as a possible class for pet taming or beast-master-style mechanics, but this is explicitly undecided. The recording presents taming as an idea under consideration rather than a confirmed feature.

Pirate and necromancer release plans

For early access, the current plan is to include the pirate as an especially emblematic Scars of Honor class. The necromancer is instead being considered for version 1.0, with the idea of building a larger return incentive around that class at full release.

This is framed as part of a broader content-cycle philosophy in which major additions encourage players to return for new experiences.

Paladin and future class showcases

A future stream topic under consideration is a full review of paladin talents. This is mentioned as an alternative to a gathering-and-crafting-focused stream, indicating that class talent deep dives are planned as part of the public development format.
