Battleground mode rules and match flow

The playable mode shown in the session is a faction-based PvP battleground built around combat, point collection, and objective control. Two factions, Sacred Order and Domination, queue into repeated matches with players switching sides at times to keep games starting.

The mode is presented as a compact PvP activity rather than the full structure of the MMORPG. Match length is stated to be around ten minutes.

Queueing and team formation

Players enter the battleground through a queue interface accessed with the U key, followed by a solo queue option. Matches require enough players from both factions and can stall if invited players do not accept. The session repeatedly shows the need to rebalance faction populations so games can launch.

Several matches are said to be running in parallel during the event, indicating that the battleground supports multiple simultaneous instances.

Core objective structure

The battleground revolves around three control points labeled A, B, and C. Players are instructed to:

  • kill enemy players;
  • collect dropped points or loot from the battlefield;
  • deposit those points on active objectives;
  • hold or retake control areas.

A control point can be especially valuable. One point is described as granting triple score, making it a priority objective that can swing the match quickly.

Deposits, loot, and scoring

Enemy defeats and battlefield pickups generate point-bearing loot. Players can carry these points and then deposit them at objectives to increase their faction score. This creates a risk-reward loop: carrying many points is valuable, but dying before deposit can hand momentum to the opposing team.

The session repeatedly highlights tactical decisions around when to fight, when to retreat, and when to deposit. A player holding a large amount of points becomes a high-value target.

Skill-based battleground format

The battleground is described as a special mode where gear is acquired during the match rather than brought in from the wider MMORPG. Players find weapons and armor while fighting, and this temporary equipment resets between queues. The mode is explicitly called skill-based in this context.

This implies that battleground progression in the shown build is self-contained for the duration of each match.

Tactical play patterns

Common tactics shown or described include grouping before pushes, defending deposit points, intercepting enemy carriers, using high ground, and denying enemy casts with silence or pressure. Teams that focus only on kills without depositing are criticized as neglecting the actual win condition.

The session also shows that faction population can affect outcomes. At times one side appears to have more active or better-coordinated players, which influences match results as much as class strength.

Availability and access

The battleground build is downloadable through the game launcher during the event. It is described as PC-only for this session. Players are instructed to choose the PTR version in the launcher when installing.

Although the mode is a temporary public-facing test, it demonstrates the intended presence of structured faction PvP with objective play, score management, and repeatable short-form matches inside Scars of Honor.
