First public playtest scope and testing goals
The first public Scars of Honor playtest is scheduled to begin on 30 April and run for 11 days. It is described as a free technical test open to everyone, intended to stress-test servers and gather feedback on core systems rather than present a finished game.
The recording repeatedly emphasizes that the build is not representative of a final 1.0 release. It is presented as an early iteration whose main purpose is to expose problems, identify weak points, and establish what needs improvement.
Test format
The playtest is planned as a staged rollout rather than a single full unlock. The first content drop includes the game's basic playable framework:
- combat
- leveling
- talents
- scars
- gathering
- crafting
- questing
- open world content
- in-game voice chat
A second wave is planned to add a dungeon test focused on a single procedural dungeon, Crypt of the Fallen. A third wave is planned to add PvP systems, specifically battlegrounds and arenas.
Purpose of the test
The test is framed as both a server stress test and a design validation pass. Opening access to everyone is intended to maximize load and produce broad feedback.
The single-dungeon approach is explained as a way to validate whether the procedural dungeon model is fun before building several more instances on the same template. The stated goal is to confirm the design with players first, then expand it.
Expected build quality
The playtest build is described as likely to be the roughest public state of the game. Bugs, incomplete polish, and unstable elements are expected. The recording compares the experience to entering an unfinished house: the structure can be understood even if the furnishing and finishing work are not done.
This framing is used to distinguish the test from a launch or early access release. The project is said not to be promising a complete MMO at this stage, but rather exposing its foundations for evaluation.
Feedback and balance concerns
Player feedback is treated as central to the test, especially criticism rather than praise. The recording highlights concerns such as whether some systems are fun, whether class and talent combinations are balanced, and whether the scar system may create overly strong combinations.
The stated expectation is that balance will require iteration after public testing. The test is therefore positioned as the beginning of tuning rather than proof that tuning is already complete.
